My Activities

I am a textile artist living in Somerset, South West England. I love everything to do with fabric, threads, yarn and mixed media. I'm a member of the newly formed TextileSet, a group of enthusiastic stitchers from Dorset & Somerset, the online group Near & Far, West Country Embroiderers and Quirky Quilters.
I love the county of Somerset and enjoy walking my dog, Indie. I travel with her around England and France at every opportunity and we both have fun in our 'cottage garden'

Where Bloggers Create

This blog is being written for the 'Where Bloggers Create' party which is set up by Karen Valentine at My Desert Cottage: http://www.mydesertcottage.com/2016/06/where-bloggers-create-2016-will-be-in.html

The idea is similar to some of the other 'get togethers' arranged at various times, by various bloggers - but the beauty is that some of the interesting blogs that you may like to follow can be found in one place - this saves time trawling the web that should be spent creating instead.

I have taken part in these before but never 'Where Bloggers Create' - I live in England, the south west and in particular in the county of Somerset; it is rural, with pretty villages, farming communities, roman roads, abbeys, the Royal Naval Air Service, beaches on the north coast facing Wales across the Bristol channel and, of course, Glastonbury!!!

I love anything textile - I sew, embroider by hand and machine, felt, knit and recently I've started to do crazy patchwork. I dye and paint fabrics, I use mixed media, incorporate paper and metal - in other words I love to create and I soak up anything around the textile world like a sponge.

I enjoy spending 'stitchy' (or shopping) days with my best friend Maria, I like to walk my dogs - Indie and Moosh (he belongs to my son who's in Australia at the moment) and I try to get over to France once a year now too.

Scattered amongst this post are photos of things I have done and I'm now looking forward to spending time finding new blogs to follow - after this weekend which will be spent with my oldest son and daughter-in-law.

I hope you enjoy some of the things I've made here and perhaps you'll read some of my other posts.

  4. Hello to you Gilli! So glad you joined the party this year! The photo you took of the ancient ruins just makes me marvel! How can something that old still be sitting there...not whole perhaps, but still beautiful! That's what I think of when I make something...will it stand the test of time and be worthy of keeping by others after I am long gone? I think that's why I love the old and tattered so much...it was beautiful to someone long ago, and may not still be pristine, but it is still beautiful! Your artwork projects are beautiful too! Love the one with the laces! So glad you shared! Hugs! Doni

  8. Hi, I am going to follow you if that is alright...I really enjoy blogs that are penned from other countries, hoping they'll post photos and info about their area and I can visit from home. I live in the South at least that is what they say in the US...Looking at a map of the USA though it looks like I live in the Southeast. I am in Alabama, Huntsville, which is where the space shuttle was born and home of Space Camp. I was raised in the rural south, farming country. Now I am kind of in the city although I am only on the outskirts. I don't always do blogging. Sometimes life gets in the way. I like what I see of your creations.
